Woodworking Technology
Safety is stressed as students learn how to use nearly all the hand and power tools in our woods lab to build projects of various difficulty. Measurement plays a key role in this process. Students have some projects that required, but also have optional projects that can be made. Student work will be evaluated on finish, craftsmanship, and meeting due dates.
Projects are available to purchase for the material cost if the student desires, however this is not required. Required projects include a stool made with hand tools, a cutting board, and a band saw box. Optional projects may include shelves, lamps, bowls, and baseball bats. Power tools that students will be trained to use include the band saw, biscuit jointer, planner, scroll saw, cordless drill, palm sander, jointer, lathe, table saw and drill press. Students may bring in their own safety glasses and combination lock.
